Pinot Noir *wine-tasting trip to the North Willamette Valley last fall with Brian and Chase
Miraculously, Little Miss Avery has survived a full month in the Edgar household without being smothered or crushed by her very curious and loving big brother Wyatt. She has even withstood a few minor pinches as well as an unintentional kick to the head, so I guess that means she's tough enough to be an Edgar!
The past month with Avery has been much better than we could have ever expected. I was terrified to have two children, but she has been such an easy and laid-back baby. She is already sleeping at least 6 hours per night, eats well, and has the most kissable cheeks ever! We feel incredibly blessed to have two healthy and beautiful children to complete our family. Here are a couple of her one-month pictures.
So, how is Wyatt handling the new addition the family, you ask? He's doing as well as can be expected for a 22-month old who has just had his home invaded by a helpless, high-maintenance little creature. Poor guy!
In all seriousness, he absolutely adores his "sissy" and always refers to her as "Baby Afwee". Although his affection for her is so cute, it also means that he takes advantage of every
opportunity to climb on top of her to give kisses when no one is looking, which means I have to be extra careful
about setting her down ANYWHERE!
He also really likes to climb on the changing table and talk to her while I change her diaper. The other day he leaned over her and licked her right between the eyes! It was so funny! I thought, "Awww...the pestering has already begun!"
He does seem to act out a bit for extra attention, and can usually be found stealing and sucking on one of Avery's pacifiers, climbing in her crib, and playing in her car seat. It's amazing that he finds so much joy in playing with the very things he absolutely hated as a baby!!
Overall though, I think he's adjusting just fine. It has really been a good opportunity for him to play more independently by engaging in more imaginative play and exploring the bugs of the backyard!
It is an adjustment period for all of us, but we couldn't be happier!

Starr had this to say:
Those are great pictures! What a good big brother. The pouty face on the bed says so much. :-) I think as they get older you'll really enjoy having them so close in age - at least I really like it anyway!
